Inspired by Clay and Print Garret Artists 31 May -19 June 2010


The Garret Artists, a group of artists who originally attended Jeanette Gilks’ drawing workshops, will be exhibiting jointly with Ceramics Southern Africa KZN in this exhibition, featuring lino prints that have taken this age old discipline to new levels. The participating artists are: Gloria Adams, Jane Bishop, Almut Booth, Mike Brightman, Ritha Fenske, Karin Greenwood, Estelle Hudson, Jane Leach, Renée Leslie, Lesley Magwood Fraser, Gail Milne, Cheryl Penn, Zelma Reuning, Angela Shaw, Janet Shaw, Mary Slack, Sally van Heyzen and Gill van Wyk.

Slices of Lives by Jeff Rankin 31 May - 19 June 2010

















An exhibition of characters and places in a unique mix of woodcut prints and the blocks they are made from.

Originally from Durban, Jeff has exhibited widely since 1976 and is represented in numerous public and private collections. In 2009 he made the move from full-time arts educator to establish the Albatross Studio next to his home on the southern edge of the Wild Coast. Now able to commit more time and focus to his own studio work, he also offers private classes and workshops in printmaking, drawing and related areas.

Opened by Rick Andrew, Artist, Writer and Senior Lecturer in the Graphic Design Dept, Durban University of Technology.

The exhibition showcases the best ceramics made by KwaZulu-Natal artists. The public will also be able to see work by students from various teaching studios in Durban.

Invited guest artists are well known Midlands potter Trayci Tompkins, creator of the Zulu-Lulu range of ceramics, 2009 Merit Award winner Maggie Matthews, well-known sculptor in clay Wendy von Varendorff and promising ceramic artist Lorrine de Richelieu. Do not miss this opportunity to see how artists express their thoughts and feelings in clay.
