Over 2012 FLATFOOT has set up a
partnership with artSPACE durban to offer cutting edge, innovative and
alternate dance performance platforms made with the specifications of the gallery
in mind. November 2nd is our third encounter with the artSPACE durban gallery.
Come and watch the world premiere of
Sifiso Kitsona Khumalo’s innovative “utalago/horizon” that begins to truly
re-define the aesthetics of African Contemporary dance. Made for the 5 award
winning resident dancers of FLATFOOT, “utalago/horizon” also features the
accompaniment of master drummer and musician, Njabulo Shabalala. This dance
work is a breathtaking encounter with the soul and spirit of a contemporary
Africa; full of vibrant movement and bustle, and yet enough space to find pause
and breath; rediscover the heartland! “utalago/horizon” is site-reactive so be
prepared to look at contemporary dance and an art gallery in a new way!
