"recalculating… " by Megan Bonnetard & Pam Benporath Opening on Monday, 21 September at 6/6:30p.m.

-->
Opening talk by Roz Fisher

This exhibition is a collaborative experiment, reflecting on the journeys we have each taken. At this point our paths have crossed and we pause to reflect on the individual journeys that have led us to this point. We do not always take the intended route when embarking on a journey, life throws curveballs, we make questionable choices and in the journey of art, as in life, so many possibilities exist, the journey becomes an adventure.  Through a process of collaboration, multiplicity, reworking, and general experimentation, we explore these possibilities where one artwork may have numerous resolutions.

“Reflections on Light” A group exhibition of artists and scientists Opening on 10 August at 6/6:30p.m.

Magic Show by Tanja Reinhardt, Director of the Science Technolgogy Education Centre at UKZN
Brief opening talk by scientist Dr. Hermann Uys from the University of Stellenbosch

Similar to previous events involving scientists and artists, artSPACE durban has organized an exhibition focusing on the fact that 2015 has been declared by the United Nations the International Year of Light.

The exhibition is titled: “Reflections on Light”. We have assembled scientists, mainly physicists and chemists from the University KZN Westville campus, to form partnerships with artists to work towards one artwork per artist that will be exhibited at artSPACE durban from August 10 to August 29, 2015.

Our first meeting with the scientists took place on Wednesday, June 10th at artSPACE durban. This first meeting was designed for the artists to meet the scientists and to choose the particular theme and scientist to work with.

The dialogue between the artist and the scientist over the following weeks will direct the artists to produce a work that is a reflection of that particular conversation.
